Australia plan cricket experiment
Australia's cricket team are planning to use the triangular series with West Indies and India in Malaysia this month to experiment with new players and to try out new combinations of players.
Wicket-keeper and batsman Adam Gilchrist is taking a rest so English county players Mark Cosgrove and Phil Jaques are both likely to open the innings.
"The whole idea of this series is to give everyone a couple of games," said captain Ricky Ponting.
Australia's Ricky Ponting is very happy to have Glenn McGrath back and play against the West Indies on Tuesday. Glenn McGrath, 36, has been out of the team since January so he could spend time with his wife who has been recuperating from cancer.
Glenn McGrath has taken 331 wickets in 221 one-day internationals but due to his long absence from the sport, Ricky Ponting wants to give him some match practice ahead of the Champions Trophy in India in October.
"He feels 25 again," Ricky Ponting explained. "I think we'll try and give Glenn as much bowling as we can, he's one that's thrived with lots of bowling over the years."
