Australia's cricket team aim for ICC Champions Trophy
The Australian cricket team are aiming on winning the ICC Champions Trophy after defeating the West Indies in the final of the triangular tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
"It's the second biggest one-day tournament in the world and it is one that has eluded Australia," said captain Ricky Ponting.
"We definitely have the squad to challenge seriously this year.
"We've played some good cricket in Indian conditions before, so we can go there now with confidence," Ricky Ponting added.
The match against the West Indies was an anti-climax when Brett Lee (4-24), Nathan Bracken (3-15) and Shane Watson (2-30) tore through their batting line-up to bowl them out for just 113.
This made Australia the winners by 127 runs and Brett Lee was named Man of the Series after taking 12 wickets in three games at a cost of just nine runs each.
Ricky Ponting believes there is still room for improvement when the Champions Trophy begins next month.
"After not playing for four months, I think it's fair to say none of us are yet at the level to play our best cricket," Ricky Ponting said.
