Ashes tickets sold out in two hours
The latest batch of tickets for the Ashes sold out within two hours of being offered for sale in Australia and seats for the first four days of the third Test in Perth and fifth Test in Sydney sold out within 40 minutes.
The first four days of the second Test in Adelaide took less than two hours for the tickets to go.
Tickets for the first Test in Brisbane are on sale from Tuesday and seats for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne are available from Wednesday morning.
The general ticket sale came about following a two-week period of exclusive sales to members of the so-called Australian Cricket Family (ACF), however, those sales caused complaints from fans who said the way tickets were being distributed favoured touts who were selling at hugely inflated prices on the internet.
Cricket Australia responded by reducing the ticket cap per customer from 10 to four and also introduced staggered release dates across the country.
England cricket fans had to stay up late to try and make sure of tickets by telephone and online booking.
Barmy Army leader Paul Burnham is expecting very great numbers of England fans to flock to Australia even though they might not have tickets for the event.
