World Rally Championship leader Marcus Gronholm crashes
Finnish rally driver Marcus Gronholm is out of the Rally Ireland following a crash on stage four on Friday.
World Rally Championship leader Marcus Gronholm had to be taken to hospital after losing consciousness after the crash but he was released later on.
Marcus Gronholm's co-driver Timo Rautianinen fortunately escaped uninjured by the crash.
Marcus Gronholm went into a wall in the fourth stage near Sligo while trailing third behind fellow Citroen drivers Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo.
After he was released from the hospital Marcus Gronholm said: "The accident happened near the finish on a wide, right corner."
And Marcus Gronholm added: "We were taken to hospital where we were both given a scan but that showed no problems. My neck is sore but otherwise I'm OK."
Marcus Gronholm admitted that Sebastien Loeb is now in pole position and looking likely to win the championship but he hasn't given up on winning yet.
