Scottish driver Alister McRae to make a one-off rallying return
Scottish rally driver Alister McRae is getting ready to make a one-off return to the World Rally Championship.
Former Mitsubishi and Hyundai driver Alister McRae will debut Toyota's Super 2000 car in the Wales Rally GB, the final race of the championship, in December.
Alister McRae, 35, hasn't been a regular world rally driver since being dropped by Mitsubishi in 2002.
"It's great to back in the WRC, especially in something as exciting as a new car to Europe," said Alister McRae.
The British-based RED team recently became worldwide agents for Toyota South Africa who have developed the Super 2000.
Super 2000 cars will run in class N4 of the WRC from 2007 and drivers will be scoring points for the Production World Rally Championship.
After he was dropped by Mitsubishi drive in 2002, Alister McRae entered the Production World Rally Championship in 2004 and nearly won the title but lost out after a mechanical failure in the final event.
