Rally driver Sebastien Loeb wins at Monte Carlo
French rally driver Sebastien Loeb achieved his goal of a fifth world title when he won the season's opening rally in Monte Carlo.
Driving a Citroen, Sebastien Loeb was in the lead from the timed stages on Thursday's race and he kept his control again on Sunday's final five stages.
Sebastien Loeb's victory means he has won a record fifth Monte Carlo title and he has become the most successful driver in the event, which was first held back in 1911.
Sebastien Loeb said proudly: "It's been a great weekend for us to win here. It's my fifth victory too, so it's a great moment. For sure it's a great weekend for us to win here again. It's a big, big victory."
And Sebastien Loeb added: "We had a very good lead, we were faster than everybody on the whole rally. It's the home rally for my co-driver Daniel Elena, and a mystical rally for the championship, so a good win."
