Rally driver Marcus Gronholm wins Wales Rally GB
Finnish rally driver Marcus Gronholm has won the Wales Rally GB after a very impressive performance in his Ford Focus on the final event of the world championship and it was his seventh victory of the 16-event season
Marcus Gronholm, 38, was in the lead throughout the race and has ended the season just a point behind world champion Sebastien Loeb, who has missed the last three races due to injury.
Marcus Gronholm defeated Peugeot's Manfred Stohl by one minute 35.5 seconds with Subaru's Petter Solberg third.
Sebastien Loeb, who has already won the drivers' crown for a third year in a row, was sidelined because of a broken arm, which left Marcus Gronholm as favourite.
Marcus Gronholm didn't disappoint and finished fastest in nine of the 17 specials over the weekend.
Marcus Gronholm also won in Monte-Carlo, Sweden, Greece, Finland, Turkey and New Zealand this season.
