French racing driver Sebastien Loeb wins 4th World Rally title
French rally driver Sebastien Loeb has won his fourth World Rally title in a row after coming third in the Wales Rally GB, which closed the season.
The position he finished in was enough for Sebastien Loeb to hold off Marcus Gronholm's challenge, and the latter driver ended up just four points adrift.
Sebastien Loeb is the third driver to win four world titles, and he joins Juha Kankkunen and Tommi Makinen, both from Finland.
Mikko Hirvonen in a Ford Focus won the Wales Rally and Marcus Gronholm was second.
Marcus Gronholm, who was taking part in his last rally before he retires, was 15.2 seconds off Mikko Hirvonen's total time of three hours, 22 minutes, 50.9 seconds.
Sebastien Loeb's win at Rally Ireland had put him six points clear as he went into the final rally and he knew that any position higher than fifth place would guarantee his victory.
Sebastien Loeb said proudly: "It's incredible," and he added: "It was really a great championship this year."
