Ford's new car makes debut at World Rally Championship
Ford's challenger for the 2006 World Rally Championship will make its
debut in next week's Rally Australia when drivers Toni Gardemeister and
Roman Kresta will drive the Ford Focus RS at the season-ending event.
The team are using the 2005 finale as a continuation of the programme to develop and test the new car.
Ford
boss Malcolm Wilson said: "We're delighted with the way it has
performed in initial testing and we're ready to move onto the next
level."
Malcolm Wilson added: "We're not going to Australia to win, but to
test, to learn more about the car and to analyse the data and feedback
for next year."
Citroen have already won the drivers' title through Sebastien Loeb and the constructors' crown.
Former world champion Marcus Gronholm and co-driver Timo Rautiainen
have signed two-year deals to compete for Ford from next season.
The 2006 World Rally Championship campaign begins in January with the Monte Carlo Rally.
