Finnish rally driver Marcus Grönholm to retire
Finnish rally driver Marcus Grönholm has decided he will retire from sport at the end of the year.
Marcus Grönholm, 39, who joined Ford in 2006 having previously competed with Toyota and Peugeot, and who won the 2000 and 2002 world rally championships, is currently beating Sebastian Loeb by 10 points with another five races yet to be held this season.
Marcus Grönholm explained that he wanted to go out while at the peak of his success and he said: "Over 20 years of rallying has given me a lot and I've always dreamed of ending my career on top."
Marcus Grönholm added: "Now I have an excellent chance to make it happen and I'm going to use it."
Marcus Grönholm also said: "There are no dramatics involved as I want to give possibilities for younger drivers to reach their dreams - like I have done."
