Citroen's Sebastien Loeb leads in Rally of Japan
Citroen rally driver Sebastien Loeb is in the lead for a chance on a record 27th win after completing the second leg of the Rally of Japan 25.6 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent.
Sebastien Loeb took the lead when he won stage 14, the day's fourth, after Ford's Marcus Gronholm went into a spin near the start line and lost 23 seconds.
Marcus Gronholm, who had won the day's first two stages, had another setback when he went into a ditch on stage 15 and now lies in second place.
Teammate Mikko Hirvonen is in third place, 103 seconds adrift of Sebastien Loeb and Australian driver Chris Atkinson was fourth in Subaru's home race but all of four minutes 24.1 seconds behind Loeb.
Sebastien Loeb has yet to claim a victory in Japan, a rally that made its championship debut two years ago, however, he is in sight of the win that would take him past the record 27 race triumphs he shares with Spaniard Carlos Sainz.
Sebastien Loeb is still feeling cautious though and he said, "The fight will continue, I think. I'm sure I will have to push very hard. I was pushing Marcus but now he will push me."
