Racing driver Dario Franchitti uninjured in crash
Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti escaped uninjured from his second big crash in six days and this latest one happened after the race had finished.
Dario Franchitti, who won the Indianapolis 500, crashed into the car of Kosuke Matsuura after taking the chequered flag at the Indy Racing League event at Kentucky, and his car flipped out of control, pirouetted on its nose and then landed against the wall.
"That one was completely my fault; there's no excuse," admitted 34-year-old Dario Franchitti.
Dario Franchitti added: "I didn't realise it was the chequered."
Dario Franchitti, who was eighth, saw his series lead cut to eight points by New Zealand racing driver Scott Dixon, who finished a close second toTony Kanaan from Brazil, who is third in the points race.
Dario Franchitti had been contesting over the second place with Scott Dixon when he dropped off line on the 1.5-mile tri-oval and slipped back to sixth.
Dario Franchitti lost two more places when he clipped a flag entering the pit lane, causing damage to the nose of his car.
