World champion Valentino Rossi can still claim 2006 title
Seven-time world champion Yamaha racer Valentino Rossi believes he can still take the 2006 title despite winning just one MotoGP race so far this season.
Italian racer Valentino Rossi, 27, has endured technical problems but says he will be making a comeback over the next 12 races.
Valentino Rossi said: "I think that for the end of the championship everything remains possible.
"We know it's becoming a huge challenge but nothing is finished yet. We have to take it race by race."
Valentino Rossi's third campaign with Yamaha has been spoiled by technical faults with the new bike and he was forced to drop out of the Shanghai Grand Prix due to vibration problems.
A new chassis was fitted for the Le Mans race but then Valentino Rossi was forced into retirement with engine problems when he was in the lead.
But Valentino Rossi is confident that the problems have been sorted out and is looking forward to racing in front of his Italian home fans in Mugello on 4 June.
