Veteran motorcyclist Jeremy McWilliams is out of MotoGP series
Northern Ireland motorbike rider Jeremy McWilliams is out of the MotoGP series following his team Ilmor's withdrawal due to lack of sponsorship.
Ilmor boss Mario Illien said that although for the time being they would not be racing they would continue to look for a backer.
Veteran rider Jeremy McWilliams, 42, returned to the MotoGP circuit this year but couldn't take part in the opening race in Qatar because he was injured during the qualifying finals.
Jeremy McWilliams, who was the oldest motorcyclist in the MotoGP series and had been riding alongside Australian Andrew Pitt for Ilmor.
Jeremy McWilliams said: "I am numb at the moment. It seems they are ceasing their racing activities because of lack of budget."
And Jeremy McWilliams added: "Everyone knows Ilmor were looking for a big sponsor. We have not had as much time on the race track as we needed for all that to fall into place."
