Valentino Rossi wins Dutch MotoGP at Assen
Italian motorcyclist Valentino Rossi has won for the 100th time in his career when he became the winner of the Dutch MotoGP at Assen.
Rossi, who is the current world champion, beat Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, and Australian Casey Stoner, who took third place even though he had been in the lead earlier on in the race.
This time, Rossi's win against Lorenzo was a lot more clear-cut than when he beat him in Barcelona.
Stoner's third position was made more impressive because he was suffering from stomach cramps for the second race in a row, and although he lost his previous lead he nevertheless finished very well.
James Toseland took sixth place and this was the best result he has so far managed this season. Like Stoner he had earlier on in the race been in the lead but was not able to hold it.
Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso both crashed out.
