Spanish motorbike rider Jorge Lorenzo needs plaster cast
Spanish motorbike rider Jorge Lorenzo has been forced to have a plaster cast on his left foot for 10 days because he fractured three metatarsal bones when he crashed on the US MotoGP.
Lorenzo, who rides a Fiat Yamaha, has already had his season ruined so far by injuries he has suffered. However, it needs to be said that he was lucky he didn't hurt himself more seriously in the dramatic first-lap accident, which he escaped with only minor fractures.
The 21-year-old Spanish motor-biker will be able to begin rehabilitation after he has spent 10 days wearing the cast.
Lorenzo is feeling optimistic despite his setbacks and aims to recover in time for the first race after the summer break, which will be the Czech Grand Prix on 17 August.
Lorenzo has had both good and bad things happening this season because he was pole position in his first three races and won the Portuguese Grand Prix, however, he also crashed more than on one occasion.
Amazingly, Jorge Lorenzo finished in second place in the French Grand Prix although he rode with two broken ankles at the time.
