Motorcyclist William Dunlop may retire due to father's death
Motorcyclist William Dunlop says he is thinking of retiring from motorsport following the death of his father Robert Dunlop during North West 200 practice last Thursday.
Dunlop explained: "I'm not 100% sure but that's the way I'm thinking. I might come back to the roads in the future."
William Dunlop also added that neither he nor his brother Michael will be taking part in the Isle of Man TT later this month.
Dunlop was reported in the News Letter as saying: "What I'm thinking is to go on the short circuits and maybe the British Superbike Championship."
And, referring his father's death, he also said: "It's very hard to take in and it will take a few weeks at least but we're not doing too bad. It's hard, and not very pleasant to say, but that's the way he would have wanted to go."
Michael Dunlop dedicated his first North West win on Saturday to the father he has lost.
