Motorbike rider Valentino Rossi gives up on MotoGP title

rossi Italian motorbike rider Valentino Rossi has abandoned all hope of claiming the MotoGP title and he says that his Yamaha team need to improve.

Valentino Rossi's comments were sparked by the fact that Casey Stoner nearly won the title by a victory in San Marino, where the top three riders were all on Bridgestone tyres, rather than the Michelin tyres, which the Yamaha team use.

Valentino Rossi was reported in Gazzetto dello Sport to have said: "Yamaha must change something," and he added: "I prefer to do something else than race if I have to race like this.

"I don't think anyone likes the tyre situation. There's no battle any more."

The Misano track where the event was held is near Valentino Rossi's home town of Tavullia, and many of his fans turned up hoping to see him beat championship leader Casey Stoner, however, Valentino Rossi's engine failed on the fifth lap and he was forced to retire from the race.
