Motorbike rider Dani Pedrosa has surgery on hand
MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa has had an operation on his broken hand and may have to miss vital testing before the new MotoGP season.
Spanish motorcyle racer, Dani Pedrosa, 22, who rides for the Repsol Honda team, had crashed during testing at Sepang in Malaysia on Tuesday and was flown back to his home country for surgery the next day.
Dani Pedrosa's doctor, Dr Xavier Mir explained: "The timescale for a return is unknown. In many cases the capacity for recovery of elite sportsmen is surprising. The majority of cases require a minimum of six weeks."
If Dani Pedrosa has to be away from sport for as long as that it means he would miss out on additional test sessions in Australia, Malaysia and the official Spanish test at Jerez.
Dani Pedrosa has served his time well with Honda, and won the 250cc world title in 2004 as well as in 2005 before moving to MotoGP.
