Motorbike rider Chaz Davies wins AMA Supersport contract
Welsh motorbike rider Chaz Davies is going to America after he won a contract to ride in the AMA Supersport series.
Chaz Davies, 19, gave an impressive performance in a one-off appearance for the Celtic Racing team in Ohio in October when he ran newly crowned 600cc champion Jamie Hacking close, and his display persuaded Yamaha-supported Celtic Racing to sign him up for the 2007 season.
This is very good news for Chaz Davies, who had lost his place in MotoGP after being dropped by Campetella Racing in June.
Chaz Davies began his career on the European circuit and showed his ability on 125cc and 250cc bikes, and after riding for the Aprilia Germany team, a move to Campetella went wrong when the team lost 80% of its sponsorship and was forced to drop him.
Chaz Davies leaves in December for America, where he will begin tyre testing in Daytona, Florida.
