Jorge Lorenzo may miss China Grand Prix
Spanish Yamaha motorbike rider Jorge Lorenzo may have to miss Sunday's China Grand Prix because he has fractured a bone in his ankle in a crash whilst practising on Friday morning.
20-year-old Lorenzo, who is the current MotoGP world championship leader, was unable after his injury to take part in the session on Friday but there's a chance he may be able to ride on Saturday.
Yamaha team doctor Claudio Costa explained: "There is still a chance he might be able to ride. It will be a race full of suffering, pain and tears. But the riders are heroes and they are capable of doing things like this."
Jorge Lorenzo lost control of his 800cc motorbike and was thrown off before he slid to a standstill taking the force of the fall on his forearms, although he sustained no injuries to the upper parts of his body.
His doctor added: "The diagnosis shows the violence of the trauma he suffered to both his feet in the crash. His condition will be re-assessed in the morning before any decision is taken about riding."
