Italian Marco Melandri wins Turkish Grand Prix
Italian motorcyclist Marco Melandri overtook Australian rookie Casey Stoner on the last lap and won the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday for the second straight year.
Marco Melandri, who started 14th, first took the lead on lap 11, and then Melandri, Dani Pedrosa, Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner battled for the rest of the race.
Casey Stoner, who won last year's 250cc race, hit the front with four laps to go only for Marco Melandri to make a deciding move.
American Nicky Hayden took third place, with world champion Valentino Rossi in fourth position.
Valentino Rossi, in his 100th top-class race, inherited the position when Dani Pedrosa crashed out of fourth place on the last lap.
Nicky Hayden is the new championship leader by one point, and takes over from Italian rider Loris Capirossi who finished sixth.
Marco Melandri was delighted with his win.
