Honda rider Marco Melandri delays fitness decision for Assen Honda rider Marco Melandri says he will delay until the last minute before making the decision as to whether he is fit enough to compete in the Dutch MotoGP at Assen on Saturday.
The Italian rider sustained neck, shoulder and arm injuries in a terrible crash on the first corner of last week's race in Spain but has had physiotherapy.
"I'm keen to get back on the bike but I'll see how I am on Thursday," said Marco Melandri.
"I'm still in pain and getting pains in places I didn't notice before," Marco Melandri added.
Team doctors have given him the OK to ride again, but he will have another medical check after Thursday's free practice session.
Loris Capirossi, who was leading the championship until being forced out of last Sunday's race by the same accident, is also optimistic about racing at Assen.
