Ducati's Troy Bayliss returns to MotoGP to replace Sete Gibernau
Ducati's World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss will be making a one-off return to MotoGP as a replacement for Sete Gibernau at the Valencia Grand Prix.
Former MotoGP rider Troy Bayliss, who won the WSB title for Ducati Xerox, will stand in for the injured Spanish motorcyclist on 29 October, the final race of the season.
"I have this great opportunity and it'll be great to meet up with some of my old team and mechanics," Troy Bayliss said.
"I do feel sorry for Sete, though, as he who won't be racing in his home GP," Troy Bayliss added.
Sete Gibernau never really recovered from the broken collarbone he suffered in the Catalunya Grand Prix in June and now missing the last race of the season means that Gibernau has had his last MotoGP ride for Ducati.
Next season Sete Gibernau's place on the team would be going to Casey Stoner.
