Casey Stoner to have wrist surgery
Australian motorcyclist Casey Stoner is going to have an operation on his left wrist because the problem is a serious threat to his sporting career.
22-year-old Stoner had broken the scaphoid bone back in 2003, but he has had problems since then because the injury has never completely healed up.
Stoner, who has been MotoGP champion in the past, iand s still hoping to come runner up this year is well aware that because the problem flares up he needs to have surgery in a bid to sort it out for good.
Stoner's rival Valentino Rossi won his sixth title last weekend in Japan and the Australian rider can now only hope for second place with Honda motorcyclist Dani Pedrosa, who is currently 11 points behind.
Stoner is getting ready for the Grand Prix of Australia at Phillip Island this weekend, but unlike last year when he was full of confidence this time around he has had to admit he is worried.
