British motorcyclist James Toseland hopes to reclaim Superbike crown
British motorbike rider James Toseland has played down problems in his
pre-season build-up and said he is hoping to reclaim the 2006 World
Superbike crown.
James Toseland, 25, won the title in 2004 but has seen his build-up impeded by illness and mechanical problems as well.
But James Toseland said that his new Ten Kate Honda team are all set for the first race of the season in Qatar on the weekend.
"The guys in the team are totally switched on and it's obvious they're doing it to win," James Toseland said.
James Toseland moved to Honda at the end of last season after getting
fired by the Ducati Xerox team for failure to retain his 2004 title.
James Toseland, who finished fifth in 2005, will be replacing Chris Vermeulen after the Australian's switch to MotoGP.
However, all has not gone totally smoothly for James Toseland's new side and the Fireblade bike during the close season.
"We had a (suspension) chatter problem in testing which led us up
against a brick wall for a while but we discovered using some new tyres
from Pirelli definitely helped," James Toseland explained.
And James Toseland had also been struck down by illness which he was worried could have ruined his season.
"When the doctors first told me they thought it might be glandular fever I was very worried," he said.
"But I was really very fortunate in that I responded well to the
antibiotics and it turned out the illness was just a bad case of throat
infection, so I'm feeling a lot better now," James Toseland added.
