Anglo-American MotoGP rider John Hopkins crashes
Anglo-American racing motorcyclist John Hopkins, currently riding for the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team, suffered a suspected fractured hand after he crashed his bike on the MotoGP final day of testing at Qatar's Losail circuit.
Born in Ramona, California, to English parents and nicknamed "Hopper," John Hopkins fell off his Suzuki in the morning and was taken to hospital for X-rays.
However, John Hopkins still finished that day with an impressive result - the second fastest time of one minute 55.825 seconds, just behind Honda's Dani Pedrosa.
It is hoped that John Hopkins will be recovered in time for the season-opener in Qatar on 10 March.
In 2006, John Hopkins had finished in 10th place overall with 116 points but had not finished on the podium during the season last year, and it remains to be seen how he will do in 2007.
