Williams test driver Alexander Wurz sets the pace
Williams test driver Alexander Wurz succeeded in setting the fastest time in the first free practice session for the European Prix at Nurburgring this coming weekend.
Austrian driver Alexander Wurz clocked one minute 32.079 seconds beating Honda's third driver Anthony Davidson by 0.320 seconds.
BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica was in third place, and Ferrari's Michael Schumacher was the fastest of the racers with 1:32.858 from just four laps.
Briton Jenson was sixth quickest, in the lead from Honda driver Rubens Barrichello.
Test drivers, without having the pressure of needing to conserve their engines, normally top the times in the first practice and this occasion was no different with Alexander Wurz the one to beat.
McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen was eighth, and Renault's world champion Fernando Alonso was one of 12 racing drivers who failed to set a time, including Red Bull driver David Coulthard.
