UK F1 driver Lewis Hamilton crashes in Bahrain
UK Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton experienced a bad crash in Bahrain when he ran off the track and into a tyre barrier but fortunately escaped injury.
23-year-old Lewis Hamilton's crash into a wall of tyres happened with just over nine minutes of the second practice session at the Sakhir circuit still left to go.
It looked as if Lewis Hamilton lost traction following a series of swift turns, which caused him to end up sliding across a run-off area and crashing badly into the barrier.
A few moments later, though, Lewis Hamilton was seen to get out of his wrecked car apparently uninjured before he was taken back to the McLaren garage on the back of a motorcycle. Lewis Hamilton's car was lifted onto the back of a truck and driven away to get repaired.
Felipe Massa was the top driver, posting a lap of one minute, 31.420 seconds, and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen came in a close second.
