Toyota add new Formula One manager
Toyota has brought in a third senior manager to its Formula One team in a bid to break a five-year win drought in their fortunes.
Tadashi Yamashina has been appointed vice-chairman of the Toyota team, which is based in Cologne.
A statement by the car giant said the move was "to strengthen Toyota's F1 technical development and race strategy structures" for 2007.
The Toyota team are said to have one of the two highest budgets in Formula One, along with Ferrari.
Tadashi Yamahsina will run the team with team boss and chairman Tsutomu Tomita and John Howett, who is president of the Cologne operation, Toyota Motorsport GmbH.
"With the addition of Yamashina as vice chairman, the three of us... will challenge to lead our team to its first victory," said Tsutomu Tomita.
The Toyota team's best season so far was in 2005, when they came fourth overall but they dropped back to sixth last season.
