Renault say they can beat Ferrari at Japanese Grand Prix
Renault are sure they can do better than Ferrari at the Japanese Grand Prix and boost Fernando Alonso's hopes of keeping his title. Ferrari have so far won five of the last six Japanese Grands Prix.
"The car will be fabulous around Suzuka," said Pat Symonds, the Formula One team's director of engineering.
"It was very quick at Silverstone, both in the race there and during testing two weeks ago. A car that is quick at Silverstone is quick at Suzuka," Pat Symonds explained.
Fernando Alonso's title opponent Michael Schumacher has been behind the wheel on four of the occasions when Ferrari won.
Pat Symonds admitted that Michael Schumacher's victory in China on Sunday which put the German level on points with Fernando Alonso "shows that Ferrari are at the top of their game," but he added: "We showed enough to be confident that we have the pace to fight on equal terms.
