Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella trusts to new engine at the San Marino GP
Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella is aiming to keep up his good start to the season with a new, improved engine at the San Marino GP this coming weekend.
Fernando Alonso has to stay with the engine that took him to a triumph in Melbourne but team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella will be getting a new one a race earlier than was planned.
"I've a fresh engine, and a bit more power from the new specification - that gives me a fantastic chance," Giancarlo Fisichella said.
Defending champion Fernando Alonso leads the standings after three rounds, with Giancarlo Fisichella joint second alongside McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen.
Under the current Formula One rules, drivers can change engines after every two races, however, Giancarlo Fisichella got out of that sequence when he withdrew from the Bahrain Grand Prix, and this explains why he is getting the new engine earlier.
