Rain stops Valentino Rossi's Ferrari test
Rain has held up MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi's much-awaited
Ferrari test drive at Valencia alongside Michael Schumacher.
Valentino Rossi has tested for Ferrari three times in the past but this
would have been his first experience of sharing a track with Formula
One drivers.
Ferrari has delayed starting the three-day test until there is an improvement in the weather.
Valentino Rossi is tipped to be moving to Formula One in 2007 and, as
Italy's most highly paid sportsman, he would be an ideal signing for
Ferrari.
Michael Schumacher, 37, has been the real strength behind the Ferrari
team for several years but his contract runs out at the end of the year
and it is still to be decided on as to whether he will retire or carry
on.
Ferrari took on Felipe Massa as a replacement for Rubens Barrichello as
their second driver for next season but his contract is due for expiry
at the end of 2006 as well.
