Polish Formula One driver Robert Kubica recovers
Polish Formula One racing driver Robert Kubica looks as if he will have recovered well enough to take part in Sunday's United States Grand Prix although he suffered concussion in an 180mph crash in Canada just three days ago.
Robert Kubica was released from hospital in Montreal on Monday after being treated for slight concussion and a sprained ankle.
Mario Theissen of BMW Sauber said: "It's great that he feels ready to race and is not experiencing any after-effects from the accident."
Doctors are examining Robert Kubica again on Thursday to make a final decision on his fitness.
Mario Theissen said BMW Sauber were ready in case Robert Kubica isn't found to be well enough and have a backup plan with German reserve driver Sebastian Vettel as a likely replacement.
The doctors will be concentrating on whether Robert Kubica has recovered sufficiently from the concussion to take part in the race.
