Next year's Formula One schedule trimmed losing San Marino and European Grand Prix
Next year's Formula One calendar has been shortened from 18 to 17 races after San Marino and the European Grand Prix were omitted from the schedule.
However, the Belgian Grand Prix will be returning after being dropped last year while improvements were made to the Spa circuit.
The changes mean that both Italy and Germany will now be only staging one race each.
The programme begins in Australia on 18 March and the European section opens in Spain on 13 May, with the British Grand Prix on 8 July. The season ends in Brazil on 21 October.
With the loss of the European Grand Prix the Hockenheim and Nurburgring circuits are both hoping to host the German Grand Prix.
Indianapolis again hosts the US Grand Prix, despite the fiasco in 2005 when only six cars started the race due to fears over tyre safety.
