Motorsport boss Max Mosley in News of World scandal
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has advised motorsport boss Max Mosley not to attend this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix after he had been named in a scandal in the News of the World newspaper.
Bernie Ecclestone was quoted in the Times as claiming that the royal family of Bahrain "wouldn't like" the president of governing body the FIA to attend."
However a spokesman for FIA said the organisation would be making no comment and that Max Mosley was meeting with his legal representatives.
Max Mosley is the son of former British Union of Fascists leader Oswald Mosley and he has been FIA president since 1993.
The scandal about 67-year-old Max Mosley erupted when the News of the World carried a report on Sunday, which alleged that Max Mosley had taken part in a "nazi-style orgy in a torture dungeon".
Since the story was published leading figures in motorsport have called for Max Mosley to stand down from his position.
