Michael Schumacher sets fastest lap in Ferrrari test
Former world champion racing driver Michael Schumacher, from Germany, has set the fastest lap in testing for Ferrari at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
However, Michael Schumacher, 38, says he has no intention of returning to Formula One, although he was happy to break his retirement to help Ferrari for whom he is a technical advisor.
Ferrari wanted to take advantage of Michael Schumacher's experience of cars without electronic driver aids ahead of the ban on such systems for 2008 and made an excellent choice in enlisting his help.
Michael Schumacher beat the unofficial timesheets record and he finished 64 laps in the F2007 car with a fastest lap of one minute 21.922 seconds.
Approximately 3,000 spectators are reported to have attended the event.
Michael Schumacher had not taken part in a driving test since he went into retirement in October 2006, although he did drive the F2007 for a few laps at Ferrari's Fiorano track at the end of October.
