McLaren won't give Lewis Hamilton his Grand Prix debut
McLaren have decided they won't allow British racing driver Lewis Hamilton to have his Grand Prix debut this year but have chosen to retain Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa for the Brazilian race on 22 October.
Lewis Hamilton, 21, tested for Mclaren this week alongside Pedro de la Rosa at Jerez in Spain and he was second fastest behind Ferrari's Michael Schumacher.
Both drivers are rivals for the second McLaren seat alongside world champion Fernando Alonso in 2007.
Finnish racing driver Kimi Raikkonen is leaving the team to move to Ferrari to replace Michael Schumacher, who retires after Brazil.
Pedro de la Rosa, who has been reserve driver for McLaren for several years, was promoted to the racing team in July after Juan Pablo Montoya decided to move to the US Nascar stock-car series next year.
"After the disappointing race we had in Suzuka, I am looking forward to getting back on track and working with the team to finish the year on a high," Pedro de la Rosa said.
