Max Mosley will not stand for re-election as FIA president
After an ongoing row that was threatening to break up Formula One racing an agreement has finally been reached between the FIA governing body and the motorsport teams.
Part of the solution agreed following a meeting of 120 members of the FIA in Paris, is that motorsport boss Max Mosley will not be standing as candidate for re-election as FIA president.
The row had been centred on budgeting proposals and changes ahead for the 2010 season.
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has expressed his relief that a solution has been found.
Mosley had earlier stated that he had no intention of stepping down as part of any agreement but he had a change of heart.
Mosley has now confirmed that he will not be putting himself forward as the head of FIA when his fourth term as FIA president comes to its end in October.
