Lewis Hamilton tops test timesheets in Spain
McLaren rookie driver Lewis Hamilton from the UK topped the test timesheets for the first time in his Formula One career at Jerez in Spain.
Lewis Hamilton, 21, put in a fastest lap of one minute 18.682 seconds and Renault's Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella was second quickest (1:19.681).
Thursday's tests also witnessed Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen visit his new team Ferrari, although he is under contract to McLaren until the end of December.
"He was there to learn a bit about how the team works," explained a spokesman.
Lewis Hamilton, in only his second full test as a Formula One driver, finished the session early after he ran off the track and damaged his car, however, it was the first time in five days of testing since the season finished in October that Ferrari had not been the leader.
