Kimi Raikkonen to give up Formula One racing
Finnish racing driver Kimi Raikkonen has decided that he will be quitting Formula One in 2010 and making a move to rallying in place of it.
30-year-old Raikkonen is reported to have hoped to have been able to arrange a new contract with McLaren but the company were not prepared to agree to the terms he wanted.
Raikkonen had been the winner of the world title for Ferrari two years ago, nevertheless at the end of this season he was pushed out to make way for Fernando Alonso, even though a year was still left to run on his contract.
Raikkonen is now hoping to find a place in the world rally championship, and to switch to rallying for the future instead of Formula One.
Raikkonen gave his debut performance at Rally Finland last August, and now he wants to concentrate on this branch of motorsport for his career ahead.
