International Automobile Federation angry at racism
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) are angry that Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton was racially abused at testing in Spain, and they want that Spanish circuits could be penalised because of this.
Last year British driver, Lewis Hamilton, and Spanish McLaren driver Fernando Alonso had their disintegrating relationship well-publicised in the press, and Lewis Hamilton was alleged to have suffered racial taunting by Circuit de Catalunya fans.
A FIA spokesman said: "We are surprised and disappointed at the abuse. This is a clear breach of FIA principles and any repetition will result in serious sanctions."
Spanish newspapers had reported that Lewis Hamilton had been booed and insulted whenever he made his way into the racing pits on Saturday at the Barcelona circuit, and McLaren test team manager Indy Lall was reported to have said: "It is not right the way he is being treated."
Although the FIA have not said what actions could be taken against the Spanish circuits, it is thought that either circuit could lose its place in the championship if any further such racist behaviour are not properly dealt with or stopped.
