Honda to change to Brawn GP after Ross Brawn buys team
The Honda Formula One team has been rescued but will now be known as Brawn GP following it being bought up by Ross Brawn in its hour of need.
Brawn, a former Ferrari technical director, has confirmed he has bought the Honda team, which was in need of a new owner after Honda pulled out of F1 in December because of the financial crisis.
British driver Jenson Button and Brazilian Rubens Barrichello, who were driving for Honda last year, will carry on doing so this year.
Brawn GP is reported to be going to use Mercedes engines when the new season begins in Australia on 29 March.
29-year-old Button was test-driving for his team at Silverstone on Friday, but he is believed to have accepted a large pay cut from his former wage as part of the deal tp save Honda.
The new Brawn GP website hasn't as yet revealed the detail of how much was paid for the team or whether the 700 staff would be safe in their old jobs with Honda.
