German Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel finishes fastest at Turkish Grand Prix practice
BMW Sauber test driver Sebastian Vettel from Germany made a very impressive beginning to his Formula One career when he finished fastest in Friday's practice for the Turkish Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel , 19, clocked one minute 28.091 seconds, 0.073 seconds quicker than Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
Defending champion Fernando Alonso was the 12th fastest; with championship rival Michael Schumacher in sixth.
Honda's Jenson Button finished third and Honda test driver Anthony Davidson was fourth fastest.
Sebastian Vettel stepped up to become BMW Sauber's test driver as part of the reshuffle, which took place after Jacques Villeneuve's departure but the teenager ended up third before coming top in the second session.
"I am surprised at this result," said Sebastian Vettel.
"It has been difficult for me as I didn't know the circuit and have had only one proper Formula One test.
"My second session was a lot quicker, and on top of that I learnt two Formula One lessons on my first day."
