Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone criticises Silverstone
Formula One racing supremo Bernie Ecclestone has called Silverstone the worst circuit in sport and wants the government to invest in improvements for the track.
Bernie Ecclestone has already warned that the famous venue could lose the British Grand Prix if something is not done.
Bernie Ecclestone explained his feelings about in this way: "Britain is supposed to be the heart of Formula One racing and our circuit is bottom of the list,"
"With a tiny percentage of what the government are wasting on the Olympics, they could support Silverstone."
Silverstone's contract to stage the British Grand Prix will run out in 2009, but the British Racing Drivers' Club has approved a £25m redevelopment, and Bernie Ecclestone commented: "They know exactly what they have to do. They've known for at least five years.
"It's not for us to say where the money comes from but it's strange because most of the events we have now are supported by governments."
