Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone and Ferrari boss at odds
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone and the teams in the sport are in disagreement with how he handles things.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said he is not happy with much of what Ecclestone has done and he thinks that 78-year-old Ecclestone should retire.
Di Montezemolo, making reference to Ecclestone, says that Formula One does not need a "dictator," and the Ferrari boss was quoted in the Times as saying about Ecclestone: "I think sooner or later he has to stop."
Just last week, the Fota and Formula One's governing body, the FIA, agreed on proposals for cutting costs over the next two seasons, and Di Montezemolo is now hoping that the teams can use this show of unity as a means of changing the power structure in the motorsport.
He has already called for a further meeting between Fota and the FIA to discuss the earnings of the Formula One teams.
Currently the income is split equally between the commercial rights holders and all the teams.
However, Ecclestone has responded to Di Montezemolo by claiming that Ferrari receive a disproportionate share of the income in the sport.
