Formula One says Narain Karthikeyan stays with Williams

karthikeyan The Formula One team has announced that Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan will be staying with Williams as a test driver for another year.

Narain Karthikeya, 29, joined in January as a second test driver after he lost his place with rival team Midland, which used to be Jordan, at the end of 2005.

Jordan used Toyota engines, which Williams are changing over to next season.

Narain Karthikeyan also has used Bridgestone tyres, which all Formula One teams will have next season.

"As a racing driver, my first priority is to compete, but I would far rather test with a leading team than accept a race seat that offered no real potential to learn and develop," said Narain Karthikeyan.

"Next season is very important for Williams with new partners at Toyota and Williams is a team that only exists to race and I hope that whatever I can contribute to this ultimate objective will be valued by the team" Narain Karthikeyan added.
