Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello to celebrate record
Brazilian Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello is looking forward to celebrating his record 257th Formula One Grand Prix appearance in Turkey next month, even though there has been some disagreements about the number he actually holds.
Rubens Barrichello, 35, thinks he will be equal to Riccardo Patrese's record of 256 starts in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix and will then go past that by racing in Turkey on 11 May, however, due to the complex nature of the Formula One official rules there is confusion over how many races Barrichello has actually taken part in.
Other sources claim that Barrichello has only the lower figure of 253 or 252 starts.
And to add to the confusion, the Grand Prix Guide compiled by Formula One statistician Jacques Deschenaux, put Rubens Barrichello's tally at 250 races at the start of the season this year.
Nevertheless, Honda settled the matter in a statement on Monday by stating: "In view of the lack of consensus regarding which specific race marks Rubens' 257th Grand Prix, Rubens will celebrate the milestone at the Turkish Grand Prix."
