Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton gets an MBE
Top Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has been to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and receive his MBE.
24-year-old Hamilton was overwhelmed by the experience, he said afterwards.
Last year, Hamilton became the youngest winner of the world championship in November, and the year before that, he became the first black driver in Formula One.
He was crowned as top driver after he claimed the fifth place he wanted at the last corner in the Brazilian Grand Prix last year.
Hamilton arrived at the palace with his father Anthony, his brother Nicolas and stepmother Linda, however, the F1 driver's Pussycat Dolls girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger was unable to attend.
Hamilton has always known he was destined to get to the top and as a 10-year-old, he told the head of racing team McLaren that he would like to be one of their drivers one day.
Just three years later, McLaren and Mercedes-Benz signed Hamilton to their young driver support programme and it has been a pathway to success ever since.
