Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton gets an MBE
British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has received an MBE after his name was announced as being on the Queen's New Year Honours list.
23-year-old Hamilton, who celebrates his 24th birthday next month, had achieved becoming the youngest winner of the Formula One championship following an exciting climax to the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos back in November.
Hamilton, who currently lives in Switzerland, said he felt humbled by being chosen for the title and described it as "a massive honour."
Hamilton had claimed the 2008 championship title when he claimed fifth place at Interlagos.
In his incredible career Hamilton in the past had claimed the British Formula Renault, European Formula Three and GP2 titles, and then last year he became the first black driver in Formula One and had been within a point of winning the drivers' championship.
